Ever found yourself in a situation when you have no mobile or web access to Whatsapp and still need to start an important conversation? Well, here’s some good news then as the most popular instant messaging app has come up with a solution to this problem. With more than 1.5 million users the world over, the instant messaging app has been conctantly rollig out new features to enhamce user experience. Facebook owned social messenger registered a domain www.wa.me to open a chat without accessing the app. According to a report on WAbeta Info, Whatsapp allows users to access chat without visiting the app, the new domain is a short link of api.whatsapp.com and can be used to quickly open a chat in WhatsApp.
Here’s how the domain works:
To enjoy the new service, users will have to upgrade their app to Androidversion 2.18.138. The updated Android version successfully recognizes the wa.me shortlink: it means the chat will be automatically opened without using the browser.
Users will have to type https://wa.me/(phone number) of the person they want to drop the text to. This will automatically direct them to the individual’s chat.
Every time one uses wa.me or api.whatsapp.com, WhatsApp checks if he/she is trying to open a chat with an existing WhatsApp user. If you try to open a chat with an uncorrected WhatsApp phone number, WhatsApp will notify you as ‘phone number shared via url is invalid’.
Whatsapp has also rolled out a Sticker album for its Beta users. Though yet not available, the feature will allow users to interact differently on Whatsapp, through something other than emojis.
Group Audio Calls
Move over, video calls! You may now be able to do a group audio call with at least 4 people. Currently, the feature is being tested on iOS devices and will soon be made avaialble for Android users too. This is likely to directly impact the telecom operators since the normal con-calls can get dumped to switch to the WhatApp audio calls.
Click To Chat
This is what everybody has been waiting for. The feature will allow users to send messages to all those numbers that you haven’t saved. This will truly be a boon, the respite of not having to save so many contacts. There are times when WhatsApp users are involved in a one-time conversation after which the contact number doesn’t seem necessary to be saved, however, they still need to save the number. WhatsApp will let you create a link that will allow you to start a conversation with the unsaved numbers.
This will help you manage the multiple chats in a way similar to your inbox. You will be able to select all the new messages and then mark them as read/unread. On the other hand, this will also allow users to delete the chats, quickly. This might be rolled out first only for Android users.
This feature is already present for iOS uers. Users will be able to decide whether they want the media (images, videos) content from the chat to be displayed in their gallery or not. This will surely save a lot of unnecessary space on your phone and the hassle of deleting media content from your device later.
This feature allows users to create a report of their account information. This information doesn’t include the messages. This report can be shared with another application. These reports are created in three days and are available to download for few weeks.
Share Link Instantly With Facebook
WhatsApp’s parent company Facebook has added a new beta feature to its app. It allows users to share a link instantly using ‘Send to WhatsApp’ option. Earlier you had to go to the share options in the drop-down menu which will no longer be needed.
